Md Shujayet Ullah, Member, Bangladesh Public Service Commission.

 

A Brief Introduction

 

Mr Md Shujayet Ullah was born on the 31st December, 1962, in the village West Syedpur, Laharkandi Union under Sadar Lakshmipur of the District of Lakshmipur. After completion of his school and college education in Abdullahpur Govt. Primary School, Chandkhali High School, Bhowaniganja high School and Lakshmipur Govt. College, he enrolled in the Department of English of the University of Dhaka in the academic session of 1980-81. Having obtained BA (Hons) & MA degree, he joined the Administration Cadre of Bangladesh Civil Service in February 1988. He worked in the field administration as Assistant Commissioner, Assistant Commissioner (Land), Thana Magistarte, Magistrate of the First Class, Metropolitan Magistrate, Dhaka, Upazila Nirbahi Officer. At superior level, he worked as the Private Secretary to the State Minister, Ministry Of  Commerce, Deputy Secretary (Law) in the Ministry of Home Affairs, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare & Overseas Employment, Secretary of the Competition Commission and Director, Department of Archive & Library.  
2. In his service life, he acquired proficiency in Criminal Law, Land Law and Legislative drafting and played a crucial role in drafting some statutes and Rules. He played a very important role in drafting the statutes for the Wage Earners Welfare Board and the National Archive. In his service life he officially visited Japan, the USA, Russia, the Philippines, Brunei, Singapore, the UAE, Nepal, India, and Sri Lanka. He participated in many national and international workshops and was also involved in drafting and signing of some international Agreements & MoUs. He participated in the Crisis Management Workshop organized by the US Department of State in Washington DC. 
3. He participated in a two-week long workshop organized by the Duke University, USA, on Development Administration, and a six-week long workshop on Criminal Justice Administration, held in the UNAFEI, Japan. An article authored by him was published in the UNAFEI Resource Material Series (No70_13PA_Ullah.pdf). He retired as an Additional Secretary on the 30th December, 2021. He was sworn in as a Member of the Bangladesh Public Service Commission on the 15th October, 2024.
