Professor Dr. Mohammad Nazmuzzaman Bhuian

Mohammad Nazmuzzaman Bhuian is a Professor in the Department of Law, University of Dhaka. He completed his PhD at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London, under the British Commonwealth Scholarship. Professor Bhuian did his LLB (Honours) and LLM from the University of Dhaka and received Attorney Alamgir Gold Medal in 1998 for securing highest marks in the LL.B. (Honours) Examination. He has worked as a visiting faculty in many public and private Universities of Bangladesh. He is the founder Moderator of the Dhaka University Moot Court Society (DUMCS). He has also served as the Founding Dean of the School of Law, Independent University of Bangladesh.

Professor Bhuian has also worked as the Regional Coordinator of the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission for the commonwealth scholars and fellows in London, the Southeast and Cambridge from September 2009 to September 2011. He has participated in different training programmes on International Humanitarian Law, Refugee Law and Disaster Law in Bangladesh, India, Malaysia, England and Australia. He is a member of the Executive Council and the current Vice-President of the Asian Society of International Law. He has worked as a national consultant in various projects initiated by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent (IFRC) and the Advancing Public Interest Trust (APIT). He has represented the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) as its Legal Adviser (Honorary) on the National IHL Committee of Bangladesh.

He attended many national and international conferences as a resource person. His areas of expertise include International Human Rights Law, International Humanitarian Law, Constitutional Law, Media Law, Disaster Law and Legal Systems of Asia and Africa. He has to his credit several books, book-chapters and research papers published in reputed national and international journals.
