Dr. Nazmul Amin Majumdar, born on 5 October 1966, is widely regarded as a thoughtful educationist, researcher, and seasoned public administrator. He has been serving as an Honorable Member of the Bangladesh Public Service Commission since 15 October 2024. His career reflects steady progression through both corporate and public service roles. He began at the British American Tobacco Company in 1990, then entered the Bangladesh Civil Service in 1993 through the Agriculture Cadre, later to the Administration Cadre the following year. Over three decades, he held a range of senior responsibilities and concluded his government service as Secretary to the Government. His professional life has been marked by discipline, integrity, and a consistent focus on public interest.

His academic background is equally substantial. He completed his Honours and Master’s degrees at Bangladesh Agricultural University in Mymensingh and at the Institute of Postgraduate Studies in Agriculture in Gazipur. He was awarded both the Australian Development Scholarship and the Australian Leadership Award Scholarship to pursue further studies at Monash University in Australia. There he obtained a second Master’s degree and a PhD, with concentrations in Public Policy Management, Business Administration, and Economics. He also completed the Advanced Certificate in Business Administration at the Institute of Business Administration, University of Dhaka. His educational journey reflects both intellectual depth and sustained engagement with policy and management studies.

Alongside his administrative career, Dr. Majumdar has devoted nearly eighteen years to teaching at several prestigious higher education institutions in Bangladesh and abroad. He has been associated with Monash University, the Institute of Business Administration at the University of Dhaka, BRAC University, North South University, Independent University, Bangladesh, and East West University. His lectures are widely appreciated for combining conceptual clarity with practical insights drawn from his extensive experience in public service.

His research and writing have been consistent and wide-ranging. He has authored more than thirty scholarly works, including journal articles, research reports, and conference papers presented both in Bangladesh and abroad. He has published four books: Gazipur 71: The Forgotten Heroic Story (Pathak Samabesh, Dhaka, 2023, 2024); Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSRs) in Emerging Economies (UPL, Dhaka, 2016); Cases in Business and Management (Tilde University Press, Melbourne, 2009, 2011); and Civil Service Ethics and Good Governance (College Gate Publishing, Dhaka, 2005). Several of these works are used as reference materials in university courses.

His academic interests include Strategic Management, International Business, Human Resource Management, Ancient Indian History, the Partition, and the Liberation War. Taken together, his career in public service, scholarship, and teaching reflects a sustained commitment to ethical leadership, intellectual inquiry, and institutional development.
